The video talk and explans that the Mediterranean ecosystems are very rare biodiversity hotspots that exist in only five of the regions around the world, which includes southern California. Some of the new information I learned
One thing I did learn about was that mediterranean ecosystems exist only in five places area worldwide, which makes them extremely rare and important for biodiversity. I also learned that the long term ecological monitoring can reveal the population declines early.

One aspect of the video I found interesting was the recovery of the fox island. It was a interesting to discover that the living things went from being endangered in 2004 in becoming among the fastest mammals in recoveries in under the endangered species act by 2016. The video relates to environmental science because it it outlines how research monitoring that managers make choices to preserve the ecosystems and wildlife.
