2. What were the main points addressed in the video?
The video talk and explans that the Mediterranean ecosystems are very rare biodiversity hotspots that exist in only five of the regions around the world, which includes southern California. It also highlights how national park, cabrillo national monument, and santa monica mountains national recreation area work to work to protect the ecosystems.
Some of the new information I learned
One thing I did learn about was that mediterranean ecosystems exist only in five places area worldwide, which makes them extremely rare and important for biodiversity. I also learned that the long term ecological monitoring can reveal the population declines early.

Another one I learned about is the terminology
Biodiversity hotspot which is considered a region that contains a high number of terrestrial and aquatic species which a lot is unique in that area but is also Anthropogenic threats.
Habitat fragmentation the process where large habitats in the wild are spilt into lower fragmented habitats.

connect with your area of study or interests?
One aspect of the video I found interesting was the recovery of the fox island. It was a interesting to discover that the living things went from being endangered in 2004 in becoming among the fastest mammals in recoveries in under the endangered species act by 2016. The video relates to environmental science because it it outlines how research monitoring that managers make choices to preserve the ecosystems and wildlife.

the video was very informative and easy to follow. It presents why protecting the marine ecosystems and biodiversity is essential.
