Annotated Bibliography

Annotated Bibliographies

An annotated bibliography is more than a brief summary of an article, book, website, or other publication. Each annotation (typically about 150 words) should provide enough information for the reader to understand the sources purpose, key ideas, and usefulness for future research.

Each annotation should include three components:

  • Summary: Describe the purpose and main focus of the original source.
  • Analysis: Discuss the applicability of the study design, methodology, key findings, and any gaps or limitations in the research.
  • Application: Explain how this source will inform your own research or professional practice.
