Capital in the Twenty-First Century film

Overview

Organized laborthrough unions, strikes, and collective bargaininghas played a major role in shaping the lives of working people in the U.S. This assignment will help you connect real-world labor struggles to the sociological concepts weve discussed about power in the economy and government.

Youll do this by listening to an episode of the Philadelphia-based podcast Labor Jawn, which shares stories from the past and present about labor organizing, strikes, and workplace struggles.

Youll write (or audio record) a short response that summarizes the episodes key events and connects them to bigger questions about how power works in the workplace, economy, and politics.
