What is this assignment about?
You must analyze a correlational study and show that correlation does NOT mean causation by identifying possible third variables.
PART 1 (NO AI ALLOWED VERY IMPORTANT)
- Choose one study from the list.
- Create 3 third variables on your own.
- For each one:
- Name the variable
- Explain in 23 sentences how it could explain the relationship
You cannot use AI in this part. It must be your own work.
PART 2 (AI ALLOWED LIMITED USE)
- Open a new chat with an AI tool (ChatGPT, etc.).
- Paste your chosen study.
- Ask the AI for 2 new third variables (different from yours).
- Then:
- Copy and paste the entire conversation into your document

After the transcript:
- Evaluate each AI variable
- Say if it is realistic or not
- Explain in 23 sentences each
PART 3 FINAL REFLECTION (NO AI)
Answer in 12 sentences each:
- Difference between correlation and causation
- Your strongest third variable and why
- Were AI variables stronger or weaker?
- Why third variables are important in research
