Part 1: Graphic Organizer

For each placement setting, provide evidence for how that placement can support students with mild to moderate disabilities including possible accommodations and modifications. Include the possible benefits and drawbacks of each placement setting.
Part 2: Essay
Write a 1,000-1,250 word essay regarding the FAPE requirement of IDEA. Include the following in your essay:
- Based on FAPE, discuss how the LRE should be appropriate in meeting student needs and following legislative guidelines.
- Discuss the factors that should be used to determine the appropriate placement in the LRE, including student behavior, for students with disabilities to ensure they receive a free and appropriate public education.
- Explain reasonable accommodations and modifications that could help students with exceptionalities be successful in each LRE setting identified in Part 1, including justifications for why they are appropriate for that setting.
- Discuss how a student might move through a continuum of placements (inclusion/push-in services, pull-out/resource services, self-contained services, special day school, and residential settings) to best meet their needs and level of support.
