Here are some ideas to consider but do not limit yourself to the following questions. They are not required but only some suggestions to think about. You can use them or choose your own ideas to explore. I want to hear your thoughts, so please do not summarize the articles but rather develop an idea. In two to three professionally written paragraphs, answer the questions below if you’d like, but do not feel the need to limit yourself to the following questions. This is a journal entry and should be in paragraph format. Please do not summarize what you have watched. Paragraphs should be at least five sentences each. I expect critical analysis, application, and discussion. To learn more about critical analysis, please go to this website: .
In two to three professionally written paragraphs, consider — but do not limit yourself — to the following questions:
- What are the racial and gender biases that exist when diagnosing eating disorders?
- What are the biopsychosocial impacts of feeding and eating disorders?
- What are some common themes you heard regarding their body images?
- What are some of the common underlying psychological factors the people suffering from eating disorders shared?
- What were some of the challenges you heard about getting help or recognizing the problem(s)?
- What did you hear about the roles of various forms of oppression and marginalization (i.e. sexism, racism, poverty, etc.) and how they may impact eating disorders? How might they impact getting help?
- How did the talk inform your understanding of people suffering from eating disorders (or not inform)?
- Can information from this talk be applied to your work with clients. If so, how?
