Nursing Question

This is what the whole assignment will be, these tips come from my professor. I just thought I’d give you all plenty of time to start working on assignment 3— here are some tips/clarifications:

I want to stress— you MUST address each required section of the assignment. Please don’t leave something blank or just not address it if you don’t have something for it. Meaning, for example, if you aren’t a member of any professional organizations– don’t leave it blank or skip it or not mention anything at all— instead just simply write “not a member” or something along those lines, so I at least know that you addressed it.

Also– to receive full credit– you must also put the required items in order as listed

Include:

Resume or CV (focus on a position you would like to have)

Include your role as a grad student on your CV under education (write something like. Expected graduation January 2025).

Professional philosophy

Should be at least 350 wordsbut no more than 600. Should NOT be generated by AI.

Evaluations

this would be an evaluation that you received from your employer or preceptor or professor that would be pertinent. (such as yearly eval from boss) However, if you don’t have something like this- no worries, just write “do not have yet” or something to that effect so I know that you did not just skip the section

Recommendations

List at least three individuals you know professionally. They must have at least a MSN.

I don’t expect someone to write you a letter of recommendation for this assignment– all I expect is a name and contact infocan be email (preferred) or phone or address (I will not be contacting- this is just to help you start getting that type of info ready in preparation for job applications). If you already have a letter, you can certainly submit that.

Licenses, Certifications (copies)

Should include nursing license and practice certification, including BLS

Education Data: Transcripts, course descriptions, research projects, papers, and presentations

Data must be entered for:

All nursing education transcripts- I’m fine with you just including your unofficial transcripts (do NOT pay for anything for this assignment).

If you have any amazing papers or projects you want to include you can, but not expected.

Work samples: teaching materials, brochures, publications

if you have any work samples of handouts etc you can include here, but if not- that is ok- just write “haven’t done yet” or something to that effect so I know you didnt just skip this section

Presentations

Professional associations

Include membership in professional associations – and the years that you have been a member.

If you are not a member anywhere- that is ok– you are not required to join a group for this assignment– just write “not a member” so I know you didn’t skip it. (of note– on a personal level, I do recommend joining a professional organization- they usually have discounts for students– but again, not required for the assignment)

Awards

list anything that you have received from work or school- if you haven’t received anything, that is ok, just write not received yet or something to the effect (you can list honor roll as well if you were on that)

Interdisciplinary and community activities

list if you are on any committees at work or school– and if you are a part of any community organizations or any related activitiesif notthen write that so I know you didnt skip it

Accomplishments

You must post at least one thing you consider an accomplishment (can be anything work or school related)

Volunteer activities

I think self- explanatory, I would say list activities within the past 5 yrs- 10 at the most

The portfolio will be submitted as ONE pdf file and graded on the following:

If more than one file or a non-pdf file is submitted, a grade of 0 will be given

  • Logically organized- 30%
  • Correct grammar and no spelling errors and APA where appropriate- 50%
  • Professional appearance-20%
  • In the past, I have had students email about making one pdf. Unfortunately, I’m not the most technical savvy person. I’d probably need to google it. In the past, I know that I have taken screenshots, the cropped them, then copied and pasted into a word document which I then converted to a pdf. There may be an easier way that I’m just not aware of– so again, google may help.
