1. Take notes:
As you watch, take notes, focusing on key moments, artistic concepts, historical figures, and visual evidence presented in the film. You can choose to take notes in any style you like, but they must indicate significant and sustained attention to the details of the film.
2. Write a response of 4-5 solid paragraphs addressing the following questions:
1. What are the key takeaways, central themes, or “big picture ideas” from this documentary? This should not be a summary of what you’ve seen, but an attempt to understand how what you’ve seen helps you to understand the artwork or historical period. Try to make connections between the documentarys content and at least two key concepts or themes from the class readings or lectures or prior knowledge you have from previous classes or experiences.
2. What questions does this inspire? What are you curious to know more about now? What avenues for potential further investigation or research can you identify from what you saw?
3. Choose a specific monument or artwork in the film that stood out to you to analyze.
